Abe Hernandez – Executive Director

As the result of a successful family intervention in October of 2004, Abe took the opportunity offered to change and ended his 20 year bout with active addiction and alcoholism.  He brings a spirit of joy and service to his work with fellow addicts and alcoholics that is truly an inspiration. His love for the recovery community and his dedication to help transform these young men’s lives can only be described as relentless.  He started Austin Turning Point Sober Living in June of 2007. His accountability standards in Austin Turning Point Sober Living has helped to change the landscape of structured sober living in Austin. Abe was born and raised here and is passionate about this city and its recovery community.  He has a background in sales, marketing, real estate and direct care..

 

Angela Soward- Executive Assistant

Angela joins us after spending 20 years in the social services field in a variety of capacities including her work at two non-profits where she provided intake and referrals, case management, and other direct services to adolescents and their families. In addition, she has a background in state government administration where she performed consultative and technical assistance to entities receiving federal and state funds for subsidized welfare services. Angela received her Masters of Social Work from Texas State University in 2001, and brings with her a compassion for people in recovery and their families. Angela assists Abe in the day- to- day operations of Austin Turning Point.
